Faire, the leading online wholesale marketplace valued at over $12 billion, opened its doors in New York City five months ago with plans to hire additional leadership positions this year. With office locations now in ten cities across five countries, Faire’s New York City office marks the company’s fifth office location in the United States, and second largest.
The New York office, located in Greenwich Village, has grown to nearly 50 employees serving critical cross-functional teams including strategy, analytics, product, and design, as well as business-facing teams including people, legal, and finance. This year, Faire plans to hire key leadership roles in New York across strategic finance and product teams. These positions will join current leadership in the New York office including Faire’s General Counsel, Lauren Thomas. Faire’s growth in New York follows the news of Faire’s Toronto office opening and the growth of Faire’s London office. Faire’s global team has grown to 1,300 employees across the United States, Canada, Brazil, Amsterdam, London, and Australia.
“New York is home to one of the largest and most diverse retail economies in the world,” said Lauren Cooks Levitan, CFO of Faire. “Our presence in the market has provided the opportunity to build deeper industry connections and ultimately better support our thriving global independent retail community.”
According to the NYCEDC, New York City records one of the best and largest pools of creative talent and more headquarters of fashion brands and retailers than any other city in the country. Respectively, the apparel category makes up nearly 20% of all brands on Faire, and New York represents one of Faire’s largest demographic of retailers in the United States. With nearly 25,000 retailers in the market, Faire’s New York retailer community represents 5% of the platform’s total retailer population located across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Expanding Faire’s presence in New York, a market with unparalleled skills and retail expertise, will help build on the existing success of Faire’s powerful global customer community.
Faire’s expansion to New York comes at a timely period for the company – next month, Faire will host its fourth virtual trade show for the fashion community, Faire Fashion Week. The online preorder trade show happening September 18-24, immediately after New York Fashion Week, will provide retailers up to 20% off preorders from brands around the world, all funded by Faire.
